My attempt ...

Those of you who know me well, know I am not creative. Nor crafty in any way. But I found this super cute Valentine card idea in Family Fun and decided - "Hey, I can do that!"

Well, about 1 (okay maybe 1 1/2) hours later I had created 22 Valentines. Anna supervised and assisted w/ her favorite part - the suckers.

End result? You be the judge!

Oh, and it didn't stop there. Oh no! We signed up to bring cookies to Anna's Valentine party at school. I was tempted to stop by the store and pick up a box or a bakery item and send that but Jon was convinced we should make our own. (Now when I say we, you knew he meant me, right?) Luckily, I used to bake and had a wonderful book full of bake sale-type cookies. I must admit, they do look yummy and fun!

Recent comings and goings

Here is a quick picture journey of what we have been up to lately.

Teacher appreciation day at the TN Aquarium = no nap = tired Anna

A little girl time with pretty toes as the outcome!

Wow! 2 snowstorms in one winter!!

But Mom! I don't want to take my nap!!

Pregnancy Progress

Rather reluctantly, I will post a recent picture of the baby bump. As much as I enjoy taking pictures, I will admit, I do not enjoy having pictures taken of me!! Here I am at 28 weeks. It's amazing how fast this pregnancy is going! As of today (Feb. 5th) we are at 28 weeks and 5 days. Basically that means I have only about 11 weeks to go. Keeping in mind that Anna came 2 whole weeks early, I could only have 9 weeks left. That is a little scary to think about!! That is only a little over 2 months away (the 9 weeks).

The pregnancy has been very uneventful. My biggest complaint at this point is heartburn but I haven't even had that in the last week or so (knock on wood). At times, the heartburn has been painful and I have gone through an entire bottle of Tums. I even moved up to the liquid Maalox but haven't had to use it more than once. I'm hoping this means Emmett will have lots of hair like Anna. He has definitely been very active these days. The minute I sit down, he starts dancing around. :)

As for Anna - I think Anna will do fine. We'll have some bumps as she gets accustomed to sharing Mom and Dad but I think she will adjust perfectly fine. If you ask her what the baby's name is she will proudly say "Emmett Douglas". She must be pretty excited - her teacher at school mentioned that she keeps talking about him. :-) She even picked out a "lovey" for him. Of course, she has to "break" it in!

I was smart enough (thanks to my noobs friends) to look up Anna's old crib to see if it had been recalled. Honestly, I'm surprised there isn't a crib out there that hasn't been recalled - what with all the recalls lately. Low and behold, yes, our crib has been recalled. Jon had to collect virtually all the hardware and we sent it in. With in 5 days, we received a voucher for a new crib. So we headed to Babies-R-Us to pick out a new crib. I'm amazed at how relatively painless this entire process was!

I think that is about it for pregnancy news. We had an ultrasound yesterday and everything looks great! We have an appointment with our midwife on the 15th. I imagine that we will be having many more appointments as the "expected due date" gets closer!!

I leave you with a couple of TN winter photos!
