The Bakers

Me:

Wow, nothing like a brief look into a complex statement! :)

I am the proud parent of a beautiful preschool girl and a gorgeous baby boy. I am also a 3rd grade teacher at an inner city Konxville school and most recently a TAP mentor. I love both my jobs as a parent and as a teacher. I am passionate about teaching and feel so lucky to have found a career that I love. Most of my time is spent with children so there are times when I revert to my childlike innocence.
We have (dare I say it?) 2 cats. One, Merlin, is a rescue from the harsh streets of inner city Knoxville and the other is named for my all time favorite author - Dean Koontz. And 1 dog, Clovis - he rocks. I am a Trekkie, although not crazy hard core. I enjoy hanging out with a group of good friends, having a few drinks, going to coffee shops, hiking, reading and traveling. My newest hobby is photography and I am loving it!

Jon:

I am married to one of the (soon to be) great archaeologists - other than Indiana Jones, of course (note to all archaeologists - Indie is not a REAL archaeologist- DUH) . We have been married for over 7 years now although we have been together since high school (almost 15 years for those who keep track). His passions, other than family, are beer and brewing his own and archaeology. If we get lucky, he may post a blog or two but mostly he leaves that to me.

The Bear:

The Bear, or Anna, is the big sister. She is a feisty, talkative, fun-loving little girl - once you get to know her. Until you get to know her, you might think her voice box was missing. :D After her first couple of months of preschool, her teacher asked Jon if she talked much at home!!! If we could get her to stop talking is the real question! Anna loves to sing, read books, and swim.

The Smiling Dude:

Emmett is our newest addition. He is such a mix of temperaments; from smiles and giggles to screams and cries. I call him the smiling dude as his smiles are so sweet, especially after a long afternoon of crying. My newest adventure is cutting dairy from my diet to see if that can temper his fussiness. Currently his favorite activities include eating and sleeping. We are debating about that hint of red we see in his hair - Will it stay?
